POWER OF THINKING

And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

EXPLANATION   *************************

The events at the tower of Babel indicated the power of man's mind to achieve whatever he desires. According to the text, God came down to see the city and tower the people built, but they had just started the construction. How come God saw a city and tower if they had just begun construction? Beyond seeing the city and tower, looking at the people, God also saw one person or individual; hence, God said the people "IS" one. God further stated that they all have one language, meaning that they all spoke the same language. God also said that "they  imagined to do", meaning that all the people had the image of the city and tower they were constructing fixed in their minds, which was what God saw. Even though  they had just begun the construction, as far as they were concerned, in their mind's eye (imagination), they saw the finished product (city and tower). Seeing the finished product in their mind's eye served as fuel driving then to actualise their dream of building  the city and tower, despite any challenges  they may encounter during construction.

Even with man's technological advancements today, it is impossible to construct a city and tower that can reach heaven. God's coming to see the city and tower in their imagination is an acknowledgement by God that nothing could stop the people from achieving what they had thought  to do. This act indicates the power of imagination, as mentioned earlier. Beyond this, God also used the phrase "LET US", meaning that the Godhead (father, son and the Holy spirit) had to work together to stop them, confirming the power of man's imagination. Thus, if we can imagine anything or see it through our mind's eye, nothing can stop it from happening; hence, the Bible states in Proverbs 23:7, "for as he thinketh in his heart, so is he". Joshua 1:8 states, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall meditate therein  day and night, that thou mayst observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make they way prosperous and then thou shalt have success ". Meditating on the word day and night not only makes us see the promises of God through our mind's eye (in our imagination) but also dislodges or breaks every negative imagination in our minds.

Therefore we need to ask God for the grace and discipline to meditate on God's word day and night to see God's  promises in our imagination or through our mind's eye. As mentioned, once we can see God's  promises  through  our mind's  eye or imagination, nothing  can stop them from happening in our lives.

PRAYER:

Father, I ask for the grace and discipline  to meditate on YOUR word day and night and to see YOUR promises through my mind's  eye in jesus' name. As I meditate on YOUR word, negative  imagination  and strongholds in my mind are dislodged and broken in Jesus'name.Amen.
